UNIVERSITI MALAYA INTERNATIONAL HALF MARATHON 2026

RULES & REGULATIONS

Please read these Rules & Regulations carefully before registering for the Universiti Malaya International Half Marathon 2026 (“Event”). By completing the registration process, all participants acknowledge, understand, and agree to comply with all terms and conditions stated herein.

The Universiti Malaya International Half Marathon 2026 is organised to promote a healthy and active lifestyle, encourage sports participation among the university community and the public, strengthen international engagement, and support Universiti Malaya’s aspiration to enhance its global reputation and position as a leading higher education institution in ASEAN.

1. EVENT INFORMATION & GENERAL CONDITIONS

1.1 The Universiti Malaya International Half Marathon 2026 is an international running event organised to bring together students, alumni, university communities, corporate participants, professional runners, and members of the public from Malaysia and around the world.

1.2 The Event aims to promote sports excellence, community engagement, international participation, and a strong culture of health and wellness while contributing towards Universiti Malaya’s strategic objectives of strengthening its global visibility and reputation.

1.3 The Event is organised by KL Event Management in collaboration with Universiti Malaya and appointed partners.

1.4 The Organizer reserves the right to modify the race route, event schedule, categories, venue arrangements, or activities due to safety, operational, regulatory, or unforeseen circumstances.

1.5 All participants must complete the official registration process and provide accurate information during registration.

1.6 The Organizer reserves the right to amend these Rules & Regulations whenever necessary to ensure the safe and successful execution of the Event.

2. PARTICIPANT ELIGIBILITY & REGISTRATION

2.1 The Event is open to Malaysian and international participants who meet the requirements of their selected category.

2.2 Participants may include students, staff, alumni, university representatives, corporate teams, running communities, and members of the public.

2.3 Participants must register under the correct category according to the age and eligibility requirements determined by the Organizer.

2.4 Participants below 18 years old must obtain consent from a parent or legal guardian before participating.

2.5 Participants below 12 years old must be accompanied by a registered parent or guardian throughout the Event.

2.6 All registration information provided must be accurate and complete. Any false information may result in cancellation of participation.

2.7 Registration fees are strictly non-refundable, non-transferable, and non-exchangeable unless otherwise determined by the Organizer.

3. RACE KIT COLLECTION & PARTICIPANT IDENTIFICATION

3.1 Participants must collect their official race kits during the designated Race Kit Collection period announced by the Organizer.

3.2 Participants must present the required verification documents during race kit collection.

3.3 Participants must wear the official race bib number provided by the Organizer visibly throughout the race.

3.4 Sharing, transferring, altering, or duplicating race bib numbers is strictly prohibited.

3.5 Participants without valid race identification may be removed from the course for safety and security reasons.

4. HEALTH, SAFETY & MEDICAL RESPONSIBILITY

4.1 Participation in the Event requires physical effort and participants are responsible for ensuring they are medically and physically fit before taking part.

4.2 Participants with existing medical conditions are advised to seek professional medical advice before participating.

4.3 Medical teams, first aid stations, and emergency response personnel will be available throughout the Event.

4.4 Participants must immediately stop and seek medical assistance if they experience any health concerns during the race.

4.5 The Organizer reserves the right to remove any participant from the Event if continuing participation may endanger their safety or the safety of others.

4.6 The Organizer, Universiti Malaya, sponsors, partners, volunteers, and appointed personnel shall not be liable for any injuries, accidents, losses, or damages incurred before, during, or after the Event except where required by applicable law.

5. RACE ROUTE & PARTICIPANT CONDUCT

5.1 Participants must follow the official race route and comply with instructions from race officials, marshals, volunteers, security personnel, and medical teams.

5.2 Participants who take shortcuts, leave the designated route, or receive unauthorized assistance may be disqualified.

5.3 Participants must demonstrate respect, fairness, and sportsmanship towards other runners, officials, volunteers, and members of the public.

5.4 Any dangerous behaviour including pushing, aggressive conduct, obstruction, harassment, or actions that may endanger others is strictly prohibited.

5.5 Littering along the race route is prohibited. Participants are encouraged to maintain cleanliness throughout the Event.

5.6 Bicycles, motorcycles, scooters, skateboards, roller skates, pets, or unauthorized vehicles are not permitted on the running course.

6. WEATHER CONDITIONS & EVENT MODIFICATION

6.1 The Event will proceed under normal weather conditions, including light rain.

6.2 The Organizer reserves the right to delay, modify, suspend, postpone, or cancel the Event due to:

• Extreme weather conditions;

• Safety concerns;

• Government directives;

• Security risks;

• Public health concerns;

• Any circumstances beyond reasonable control.

6.3 In the event of cancellation or postponement, registration fees shall not be refundable unless otherwise announced by the Organizer.

7. FINISHER RECOGNITION & EVENT ENTITLEMENTS

7.1 Participants who successfully complete their selected category will receive the official finisher recognition provided by the Organizer.

7.2 Finisher medals, certificates, race apparel, and other event entitlements are subject to the participant package selected during registration.

7.3 The Organizer reserves the right to make adjustments to participant entitlements due to operational or supply considerations.

8. COMPETITIVE CATEGORIES & TIMING SYSTEM

8.1 For competitive categories, official timing will be recorded using the timing system appointed by the Organizer.

8.2 Participants must wear the official timing device provided.

8.3 Only participants with valid timing records may be considered for official results.

8.4 Any disputes regarding official results must be submitted within the period determined by the Organizer.

8.5 The Organizer’s decision regarding race results shall be final.

9. EVENT MEDIA, BRANDING & PERSONAL DATA

9.1 By registering for the Event, participants agree to the collection and processing of personal information required for Event administration.

9.2 Participants consent to the use of photographs, videos, and recordings taken during the Event by the Organizer, Universiti Malaya, sponsors, and partners for promotional, publicity, reporting, and future event purposes.

9.3 Participants acknowledge that the Event represents Universiti Malaya’s commitment towards promoting excellence, international engagement, and a strong global university identity.

10. LIABILITY WAIVER & ACCEPTANCE OF TERMS

10.1 Participation in the Universiti Malaya International Half Marathon 2026 is voluntary, and participants acknowledge all risks associated with taking part in a running event.

10.2 Participants agree to release and hold harmless the Organizer, Universiti Malaya, sponsors, partners, volunteers, and appointed personnel from any claims, liabilities, damages, or losses arising from participation in the Event.

10.3 By completing registration, participants confirm that they have read, understood, and agreed to comply with all Rules & Regulations stated herein.
